Dr. Jennifer Tewathahá:kwa Maracle is the Executive Director, Indigenous Engagement and Applied Research. She provides strategic leadership for the Applied Research and Innovation Office (ARIO) and the Tsi Titewayata’ró:roks Indigenous Centre, where she advances institutional commitments to Truth and Reconciliation through Indigenous-led programming and curriculum develop in addition to ensuring strong Indigenous student supports.
A member of the bear clan from Kenhtè:ke (Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory), Dr. Maracle holds a Bachelor of Arts, Indigenous Studies from Laurentian University, a Bachelor of Education, Master of Education, and a Ph.D. in Indigenous Education from Queen’s University.
Dr. Maracle is an active researcher and contributor to Indigenous scholarship. Her doctoral research applies the principle of Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing) to integrate Haudenosaunee knowledge with the current education model to develop a new pedagogy that supports whole child development. Her publications highlight the importance of relationship-based special education that connect school, family, and community. She recently co-authored a peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Community Development.
